A clear brief gives your branding partner the information needed to discuss the right scope. Whether you need signage, a branded workspace, packaging or corporate gifts, start with the outcome you want and the details you already know.
Start with the purpose
Explain who will see or use the finished work. Are you opening a new outlet, refreshing an office, preparing for an exhibition or arranging gifts for clients? Include the message you want to communicate and the parts of your business that need to carry it. If the project includes several items, list each one separately.
List the items and locations
For each item, share the required quantity, approximate size and intended location. Add clear photographs of the space or a reference picture of the product. Mark measurements on a photograph if it helps explain the placement. State which dimensions are estimates and which have been checked. Final site measurements should be confirmed with the team before production.
Bring your brand assets together
Send the logo files and brand guidelines you already have, along with approved wording, contact details and any artwork. Keep reference images separate from final artwork so the team can tell which files are ready to use. If you need design support, describe what needs to be created rather than leaving it implied in the production enquiry.
Explain the schedule and site access
Share your target date and any fixed event or opening date. For installation work, include access timings, the contact person at the site and any building or mall requirements you know about. Let the team confirm what can be delivered within that schedule before making commitments around the installation.
Compare the agreed scope
Review quotations against the same list of items. Ask what is included in design, materials, production, delivery and installation, and clarify any exclusions. Before approving work, check names, spellings, dimensions, quantities and the final artwork. Keep the approved version and agreed specification together so everyone works from the same information.
